The date, typed on the very first line of the first page, was Sept. 28, 1999, when I decided to key the first strokes of a long journey in the process of writing this English-Hmong-English dictionary. When the last Hmong word, “w,” was translated into English, with the help of Marlin Heise and Tzianeng Vang of the Hmong Archives, it was June 26, 2006, at 12:03 PM, almost seven years later.
