This is a dictionary of terminology compiled during the last ten years to facilitate the teaching of courses in finance, computing and enterprise in FIONTAR, Dublin City University. The setting up of FIONTAR in 1993 was acknowledged as an ambitious and challenging project in many ways, not least because of the non-existence of text books in Irish and the existence of only a few reference books dealing with the disciplines in question. It was decided that it would be necessary to compile, and to create where needed, terminology for the subjects on the FIONTAR programme and to include, as far as possible, definitions in Irish and in English for these terms. The dictionary is therefore a response to the demand for terms by lecturers and students for the FIONTAR programmes BSc in Airgeadas, Riomhaireacht agus Fiontraiocht/BSc in Finance, Computing and Enterprise (now BSc i bhFiontraiocht le Riomhaireacht/Gaeilge Fheidhmeach — BSc in Entrepreneurship with Computing/Applied Irish) and MSc i nGno agus i dTeicneolaiocht an Eolais (MSc in Business and Information Technology). It is not a comprehensive corpus-based list. It is being published in book form now to mark a decade of FIONTAR’s achievements.
