As students reflect on how language works, they will be cognitively active trying to figure the answers to the questions posed. There will be two different instances of reflection: about English and about the connection between English and Spanish, the language of instruction at school. By making connections between the two languages, students can then focus on what is different or on what they need to pay attention to.
