    We believe that students and many other writers want clear, concise answers to questions that arise during the composing process or to those that an instructor might pose in respond¬ ing to an essay. Such writers neither want nor need to labor through detailed discussions of the many options available in English; but they do need explanations and examples which they can apply to their own work. And they must be able to find such information quickly: they need to spend their time writing rather than leafing through elaborate text¬ books.
