The Bedford Bibliography For Teachers Of Basic Writing

Our idea for a bibliography of basic writing began with Patricia Bizzell, Bruce Herzberg, and Nedra Reynolds’s valuable work in The Bedford Bibli' ography for Teachers of Writing. As co-chairs of the Conference on Basic Writing (CBW), we asked ourselves, “Why isn’t there a similarly useful resource for teachers of basic writing?” We talked about this at some length between ourselves and with members of the CBW; ultimately, we decided that we should have a bibliography of our own. In the last fifteen years, basic writing has become a more sharply defined subfield of composition. By compiling the work developed specifically for, and by, basic writing teacher-researchers, we are creating what we hope will be an important and useful resource for anyone—teachers, researchers, students, and even administrators—interested in the field of basic writing.
