    The First Steps Speaking and Listening Resource Book will helpteachers focus on the explicit teaching of the different forms ofspoken language; speaking and listening processes, strategies andconventions; and the contextual aspects associated with composingand understanding oral texts. Teachers will find the informationrelevant for all phases of speaking and listening development, andwill be able to apply the ideas and suggestions with all students intheir classroom.CD-ROM icons appear throughout the First Steps Speaking andListening Resource Book. They indicate that a practical format isavailable on the Speaking and Listening CD-ROM (included in the FirstSteps Speaking and Listening Map of Development Second Edition). TheCD-ROM contains activity formats, recording sheets and resourcelists, as well as teaching, learning and assessment frameworks. TheFirst Steps Linking Assessment, Teaching and Learning book is also auseful companion resource.
