This is a gem of a book - funny, informative, detailed, and simple all at once. It describes processes, not just facts, so kids see how things work. Our 4-year old is in love with it, and even our 12-year old enjoys skimming through it. It's also one of those rare books that you can appreciate as you read it to your kid for the 10th time. You have to have a sense of humor, for example to appreciate the phases of the moon being explained with a witch in the pictures. You also have to be OK with a modern and educated world view - that the Earth is old, and the Industrial Revolution was hard for some people.
